1 Locks with a single lift of 4.0m (13ft). Cataraqui River was diverted
from its original route through the canal. A small dam and later
hydroelectric station was built to use the surplus waste water. The station sits below
the weir. Storage elevator for a grist mill sits on the far side of the
weir. A defensible locks master's house sits beside the lock.
The photos for this pan were shoot over several
minuets. It shows the locks masters allowing a ship to enter by moving
the swing bridge. And then later opening the other end of the lock to
lower the water level.
