Kingston Mill, Locks 46-49

4 Locks with a total lift of 13.7m (45ft).  Locks 47, 48, & 49 are connected and 49 is detached with a turning basin in between.  This site also has a dam 9.1m (30 ft) tall and 122m (400ft) long.  Raising the water level of the original swamp to a maneuverable small lake, Colonel By Lake.  A swing bridge extends over lock 46.

Pan #1
Visible in this pan is lock 46 and the movable swing bridge.  The far end of the lock is open and the turning basin is visible under the bridge.

Visible in this pan are locks 47, 48, & 49 and the turning basin at the top plus the lock gates going up to lock 46.  Below lock 49 is the Cataraqui river flowing to the St. Lawernce sea way.  Overhead is a train bridge

Pan #3
Visible in this pan is lock 46 and the movable swing bridge, pulled back to the other side of the canal.  Beyond the far end of the lock is the turning basin and rail bridge.  The lock master is opening the lock to Colonel By Lake.
